Rose Campbell
Rose Campbell of Conneaut, Ohio, for going above and beyond with her fearless rescue of ten people from a burning house. On February 29, 2007, Campbell was driving to work at 4:00 a.m. when she noticed a fire glowing on the front porch of a residence. Campbell began honking the horn on her truck to alert the occupants and the neighborhood. She left her car and headed onto the porch, screaming “fire, fire, fire!” With the porch engulfed in flames, Campbell directed family members to the side door and then entered the burning house to help the children escape safely and attempted a second rescue when she learned there was one family member still inside. While that man died of smoke inhalation, Conneaut is credited for saving the lives of ten family members, several of whom are children.
