Patrick Heavey

Patrick Heavey of St. Louis, Missouri, for going above and beyond as an advocate for Vietnam veterans. Heavey was a Harvard MBA before serving in Vietnam. After his discharge, he secured funds from the Governor of Illinois to help start the first community-based “Veteran Service Centers” in the country. Heavey’s belief that the concept of “I have your back” would work just as well in business as it had in battle, led to the establishment in 2004 of the St. Louis Veterans Business Resource Center, which provides daily guidance and assistance to hundreds of veterans, service disabled veterans, and reserve component members. The new center continues 30 years of Heavey’s work of “veterans helping veterans” in the St. Louis area.
