Amanda Pinkerman

Amanda Pinkerman of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, for going above and beyond by saving the life of her father. Pinkerman learned CPR in high school gym class and never thought she would need to use it. On January 22, 2007, her father collapsed in front of her, and Pinkerman immediately performed CPR for 15 minutes as they waited for the ambulance to arrive. It took four shocks to get Mr. Pinkerman’s heart started again, and he was in a coma for three days, but he survived. Due to Pinkerman’s quick thinking, she saved her father from suffering permanent brain damage.
