Patricia Donahue

Patricia Donahue of New Lenox, Illinois, for going above and beyond as a teacher who truly embodies the essence of selflessness. As a fourth grade teacher, Donahue saw her student, Brandon Shafer, suffer through polycystic kidney disease and witnessed first hand his disappointment in finding out his mother was not a donor candidate. After being tested, Donahue discovered she was a perfect match. She unselfishly gave Shafer one of her own healthy kidneys, ensuring a future for the boy that he may not have had otherwise.
