John Lloyd

John Lloyd of Fernandina Beach, Florida, for going above and beyond with his daring rescue attempt of two drowning swimmers. In May 2007, 64-year-old Lloyd was walking along the beach when he saw Brian Wynne and his 7-year-old son in the water yelling for help. Without hesitation, Lloyd swam out to them and heard Wynne scream, “Save the boy, save the boy.” Lloyd just managed to grab the boy’s little fingers, and held onto the boy until rescuers arrived, despite his own exhaustion. Although Wynne perished, Lloyd’s brave actions that day resulted in the survival of Wynne’s son.
